In the early days of my lawn care career, I followed the traditional narrative of using chemical fertilizers and pesticides to achieve the perfect lawn. But as the years went by, I realized that this approach was not only harming my own health, but also the health of the planet.
I began to understand that the root of the problem was not the weeds, insects, and diseases, but rather the lack of balance and health in the soil. Years of tilling, construction, and conventional landscaping practices had left our soil compacted and depleted of the vital microorganisms and organic matter that support plant growth.
Nature has its own way of healing soil, through the growth of weeds and other pioneer plants that break up compaction and add organic matter to the soil. But by using chemical fertilizers and pesticides, we disrupt this natural process and create an endless cycle of dependence on these products.
At Stangl’s Services, we believe in a different approach: regenerative lawn care. Our process combines traditional techniques with organic and biological methods to build healthy soil and support plant growth. We use our own lab to measure the results of our approach and continually improve our methods.
By focusing on the health of the soil, we not only achieve a beautiful lawn, but also have a positive impact on the environment. We’ve stored over 80 tons of CO2 as organic matter, and reduced the need for watering and chemical treatments.
Our services include aeration to reduce compaction and increase oxygen and water penetration, seed thinning to fill in bare spots and reduce sunlight on the surface, and the application of mycorrhizae fungus and compost to add vital microorganisms and organic matter to the soil.
